Primary Activities/Duties:

  • Provides daily support to Rittal’s customers and Rittal Outside Sales Engineers as it relates to Rittal Automation Systems (RAS) machines or supplemental products.
  • Trouble shoot via phone or on-site the end customer concerns as they arise in a timely manner to meet and exceed company targets.
  • Supports customers by being “on call” as needed.
  • Support the implementation, installation and repairing of RAS machine.
  • Train customers on the operation of RAS machines and software interfaces.
  • Assist with setup and demonstration of RAS machines during trade show and customer events.
  • Strives for continuous improvement of equipment and processes by giving feedback that will improve the reliability and technology.
  • Coordinate other sub-contractors as needed during installation, repairs.
  • Available for extensive travel to customer locations in North America (including Canada and Mexico) and Germany - up to 75%.
  • On-going communications with Rittal Headquarters and Kiesling located in Germany regarding products, quality or any other issues regarding RAS.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • B.S. degree with major in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent training required. Technical certification with PLC or CNC Controls or computers a plus.
  • Five plus years work experience in Controls Engineering or CNC Machines with plant floor experience required.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and vacuum systems, electricity (AC/DC), step up/step down transformers, single and three phase power up to 460 volts, linear actuator motors.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/AutoCAD drawing for importing customer documentation into the RAS software.
  • Must be able to visually communicate concepts, reading drawings and be very detailed. Working knowledge of PLC logic and process troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of drilling, tapping, and milling of metal parts and the ability use measurement instruments.
  • Working knowledge of NEC and ANSI codes.
  • Working knowledge of NC programing language.
  • Conversational and technical knowledge of the German language is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft products, including working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Ability to ask for and follow supervisor’s instructions.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with technical as well as non-tech personnel. Ability to work independently as well as a member of multi -functional team.
  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal, problem-solving, decision making skills, ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be available to work daily/weekly overtime as needed.
