Production controller supervisor is responsible to supervise production controlling team to schedule and monitor workflow, as well as material movement in production cycles to ensure continuous operations. They are responsible for running a smooth and efficient facility and ensuring a safe environment.

Primary Responsibilities:   

  • Works in a safe manner, follows all established safety protocol.
  • Follows Work Instructions, procedures, and company policies, including safety procedures.
  • Supervises finite production schedules for manufacture of industrial or commercial products
  • Confers with department supervisors to define progress of work to provide information on changes in processing methods received from methods or engineering departments.
  • Establishes a feedback loop with production schedulers and production personnel to resolve problems affecting production schedules.
  • Uses shop floor control staff to isolate problems and to develop systems to prevent the problems from re-occurring.
  • Support development of all employees to their full potential; establish clearly defined expectations and goals.
  •  Notify management of work progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure the personnel, equipment, material, and services are provided as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Performs other related duties as needed​​
Technical Skills
  • Ensures strict compliance with Work Instructions, procedures, and company policies, emphasizing a commitment to safety standards.
  • Efficiently utilizes the SAP ERP system and other IT tools, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding.
  • Create & supervise finite production schedules and sequence plans for manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborates closely with the planning team to align finite schedules and sequence plans with production plans, customer orders, and finished goods stock planning.
  • Aligns sequence plans and schedules with the accurate allocation of materials and resources to all production areas.
  • Facilitates daily communication of schedules and sequence plans to production departments, addressing material status, planning, and production issues.
  • Provide daily updates on schedule results to the production planning team, reviewing critical orders, and managing escalations, including feedback for resolution on issues affecting the production plan.
  • Supervises support for production, offering SAP documentation for scrap and reproduction, and controlling execution.
  • Ensures alignment of raw material picking processes with production schedules through effective communication with the raw material warehouse.
  • Analyzes production data to identify improvement areas and implements changes for enhanced efficiency.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement projects.

  • Familiarizes with all routings for production operations, balancing capacities to control output and efficiency with support from the planning team.  
  • Supports employee development, establishing clearly defined expectations and goals.  
  • Informs Management of work progress, material availability, and potential production issues to ensure the provision of necessary personnel, equipment, material, and services. 
  • Experience or education equal to ten years’ experience in operations. Specific to manufacturing and production control.
  • Minimum 5+ years of SAP Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Professional written and oral communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities
  • Strong problem solving and mathematical skills.
  • Motivated to operate independently and accepting/seeking other inputs
  • Organized with strong time management skills, ability to adapt to priority changes
Production Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Monitor production progress and update the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) (RLGL) with accurate order status information, adhering to standard work instructions.
  • Summarize daily production status and share relevant updates through designated communication channels.
Material Management:
  • Review the availability of "Assembly to Order" (ATO) parts, released, Sequenced and escalate any potential shortfalls to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure timely delivery of required materials to the production line.
Decision-Making and Problem-Solving:
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Capacity to make logical decisions and contribute to problem-solving initiatives.
  • Escalation if foresee any deviation from the set assembly sequence plan
Physical Requirements:
  • Stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the work shift.  Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds to waist level; frequently lift 25 – 40 pounds to waist level and up to 25 pounds above the shoulders.

    Mental Requirements
    Work in a fast-paced environment, be able to adapt to assignment changes easily, ability to multi-task, and learn various build requirements. Must possess ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees, supervisors and managers.

    Safety Requirements:
    Wear safety-toed footwear, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection and additional personal protective equipment where required.

    Direction & Decision Making:
    Complete directives given either verbally or written, make and assist in determining logical decisions.

    Relationship:
    Direct Contacts: Production control Manager, Assembly Manager, Team Supervisors and Team members.
    Indirect Contacts:  Various departments at Urbana plant.

    Knowledge & Experience:
    Must have high school diploma or GED.  Basic computer knowledge required.

    Work Environment:
    Warehouse and manufacturing areas, exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust.
