Position Summary
The SAP Business Process Master Specialist is responsible for leading, maintaining, and optimizing SAP master data and production planning processes to support efficient materials management, production workflows, and accuracy. This role ensures alignment with global standards, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and enables effective collaboration across planning, production, supply chain, and headquarters teams. The Specialist serves as a subject matter expert in SAP PP/MM processes and plays a key role in long‑term capacity planning, material strategies, and system enhancements.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Business Process Improvement & Standardization
  • Implement continuous business process improvements related to production planning, production control, and materials master data within SAP.
  • Ensure alignment of Work Package (WP) Building Block processes with global Rittal standards.
  • Identify and implement Lean improvement opportunities to optimize planning and material flow.
  • Continuously monitor emerging technologies and process innovations that can enhance efficiency and system performance.
SAP Master Data Governance
  • Direct, maintain, and document proper use of material master data across the planning and materials organization.
  • Implement stratification of materials or MRP controllers to enhance material flow and production output.
  • Establish and maintain standardized COGI (Controlling of Goods Issued) clean‑up processes to ensure data and transactional integrity.
SAP PP Tool Management & System Enhancement
  • Conduct SAP PP error management, testing, troubleshooting, and enhancement activities.
  • Support SAP upgrades, configuration changes, and the rollout of new developments or modules.
  • Collaborate with key users and technical teams at both LLC and Headquarters to ensure seamless process execution.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, SOPs, and training materials related to SAP PP/MM processes.
Capacity Planning, Inventory Strategy & Material Controls
  • Develop long‑term capacity planning tools and processes (90‑day horizon and beyond).
  • Define appropriate planning methodologies and inventory strategies for new programs and projects (e.g., IT Pro).
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve safety stock methodologies and calculations for raw materials.
  • Review raw and WIP inventory trends and develop recommendations to improve accuracy and reduce waste.
  • Analyze root causes of inventory discrepancies related to shop floor flow, master data setup, and transactional behaviors.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Training
  • Work closely with Planning, Production, Procurement, Quality, Logistics, and HQ teams to support end‑to‑end process execution.
  • Train functional key users, planners, and material teams on SAP processes, master data standards, and best practices.
  • Participate in cross-departmental workshops to gather requirements, implement process improvements, and resolve systemic issues.
Other Responsibilities
  • Support additional tasks, special projects, or department initiatives assigned by leadership.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, Business, Operations, or related field preferred—or equivalent experience.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in operations, supply chain, logistics, production planning, or materials management.
  • Full understanding and hands-on experience with SAP, particularly SAP PP/MM modules, master data, and production workflows.
  • Experience with Lean methodologies and continuous improvement tools.
  • APICS certification (CPIM/CSCP) is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Deep knowledge of SAP transactional flows, master data structures, and production planning logic.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency in developing documentation, training materials, and standard work.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
