Tasks
This is not an entry level position. The Quality Assurance Specialist position is responsible for performing all duties necessary to inspect and verify materials and products meet the applicable requirements and to record all results and notify appropriate personnel of any discrepancies. This can include performing measurement system analysis, dimensional studies, auditing, root cause and corrective actions, first article inspections, receiving inspection or becoming a designated supplier quality representative.

This position is responsible for performing a variety of simple to complex tasks with minimal supervision, such as:
Perform in-process inspections, final inspection, and product certification. 
Inspect product throughout the manufacturing processes ensuring that they meet Design & Quality specifications.
  •  Record, monitor, and report on scrap and rework (FTY/FPY)
  •  Assist in process capability studies and conduct product testing as required. 
  •  Aid in management of process control plans and product specification sheets. 
  •  Perform process and product audits per applicable sampling plans and audit schedules. 
  •  Document audit findings and report as required. 
  •  Participate in corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and monitor for effectiveness. 
  •  Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) & Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). 
  •  Communicate with all departments on issues / concerns, and support resolution.
  •  Assist or instruct other in daily activities as needed. 
  •  Maintain appropriate knowledge and skills to efficiently perform all assigned work.
  •  Maintain a satisfactory level of performance while adhering to all instructions, specifications and procedures.
  •  Follow all health safety and housekeeping policies (6S). Support safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives (CIP).  
  • Follow all plant and department specific safety rules, including use of all require personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Participate in special projects and perform other responsibilities as required and/or directed.
Guidelines
Work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to assignment changes easily, ability to multi-task, learn office procedures and learn/use new software.  Must be detailed oriented; communicate effectively via oral and written communications with all levels of employees and departments.  Wear safety glasses with side shields, safety toed footwear, hearing protection and additional PPE as required.  Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the work shift.  The ability to lift 25-50 lbs. to waist level and up to 25 pounds above the shoulders. Stand for extended periods of time and work at a computer and keyboard occasionally throughout the shift.  

Responsibility
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of simple to complex tasks with minimal supervision. Primary responsibilities are preventing defects by ensuring proper systems and procedures are in place throughout the production process by supporting quality inspections, auditing production processes, supporting CAPA initiatives and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. 

(Responsibilities include but not limited to the following)
  • Act as an impartial third party between the production source and the customer facility to ensure the product meets set criteria.
  • Conduct audits of QMS processes and manufacturing activities s, external (certification) audits, surveillance audits, re-certification audits, and supplier audits. 
  • Gather, analyze, and report on data to evaluate the health and status of the QMS and manufacturing processes, while ensuring clear communication to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Develop, update, and maintain QMS documentation, including policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Actively lead and promote the quality assurance process, which involves driving a proactive and preventative approach across all departments to develop and maintain a quality-focused culture.
  • Read and follow work instructions and general processes.
  • Check/inspect manufactured parts or products for defects.
  • Use measuring or testing equipment as needed.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Facilitate training for quality inspectors. 
  • Must comply with local and company Health & Safety legislation, laws, and policies.
  • Utilize company portal for time recording and policy acknowledgements.
  • General Safety; Quality System Awareness
  • Any other duties as assigned.
This is an essential role in manufacturing with a direct impact on customer satisfaction. This role will report to the Quality Assurance Manager and work with production personnel, including quality inspectors on a daily basis.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of Quality or Manufacturing related experience. 
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).
  • All ASQ Certifications and other will be considered. 
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred
Understanding of Quality Control standards and problem-solving tools. 
  • Able to read simple engineering drawings/blueprints
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 8D, Fishbone Diagrams, and Five Why Analysis)..
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience with measurement tools and equipment such as Calipers, Micrometers, Indicators, etc. 
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for advanced data analysis.
  • Experience with quality tools such as Minitab, Tableau, or Power BI for data analysis and visualization.
  • Proficiency in ISO 9001 standards, AS9100 or equivalent. Lead Auditor Certification is a plus.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential material.
